About the catalogue

Series of records on the Online Archive Catalogue are being added to regularly. The main series of records included here at present are:

  • Ecclesiastical parishes in Hertfordshire (collection reference DP/)
  • Hertfordshire Boards of Guardians (collection reference BG/)
  • The Diocese of St Albans (collection reference DS/)
  • The Archdeaconry of St Albans (collection reference ASA) and the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon, Hitchin Division (collection reference AHH)
  • Some Urban and Rural District Councils of Hertfordshire (collection references UDC/ and RDC/)
  • Various estate collections (collection reference DE/) including Delmé-Radcliffe (collection reference DE/R), Hawkins solicitors of Hitchin (collection reference DE/Ha), the Capell family, Earls of Essex (collection reference DE/Cp), the Earls Cowper of Cole Green House and Panshanger (DE/P), the Bulwer-Lytton family of Knebworth House (K and DE/K) and the Lawes-Wittewronge family of Rothamsted (collection reference DE/Lw)

  • There are now a number of catalogues with images attached to them. These are: the Buckler drawings - views of Hertfordshire (collection reference DE/Bg); Threads of Time (collection reference HALS/TT1 and HALS/TT2); the Local Studies Collection of 35mm Slides (collection reference DE/X1025)

Some of our catalogues are not yet fully edited. This means that the structure or arrangement of a collection may not always be clear. In some cases, information in the Date or Extent fields may be missing or not displayed in the normal format.
